A live-action Pacific Rim TV sequence is in-development at Amazon, according to Variety. Information of the venture was first shared in 2024, when Selection reported that Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer was connected to develop and write the show.
The brand new sequence will apparently be a prequel to Guillermo Del Toro’s authentic Pacific Rim, a film about Kaiju-fighting large mechs and the people that pilot them. Legendary, which produced Pacific Rim, can be backing the sequence alongside Amazon MGM. The studio seems to be utilizing the identical technique with Pacific Rim that labored with its Godzilla-and-King-Kong-starring “MonsterVerse” franchise. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters streamed on Apple TV+ in 2023, and acted as each a prequel and sequel to the “MonsterVerse” movies.
Heisserer has loads of expertise adapting present materials. His Arrival script transformed an experimental second-person quick story right into a (comparatively) considerate blockbuster, and his work on Netflix’s Shadow and Bone discovered a intelligent solution to interweave the primary guide in Leigh Bardugo’s sequence with characters from a later duology. Pacific Rim appears much more easy as compared.
There’s but to be an official announcement from Amazon, or any dates for once we can count on the sequence to be accessible, however there was fairly a bit of recent Pacific Rim materials for the reason that first movie got here out in 2013. The live-action sequel Pacific Rim Uprising was launched in 2018 and Netflix put out its anime sequel, Pacific Rim: The Black, in 2021.
